Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find information on the conference as a new student or a returner?

New students are registered for their first conference as a part of their COUN/ORGL/EXCC 600 or CES700 course.

Current returning students can register online through MyRecords. You can find CRN registration information on the class schedules page.

Alumni can register as a returner by reaching out to tiadvisor@cui.edu and obtain a Guest Student Registration Form.

How do I access my grad plan?

To access your grad plan log into MyCUI. Once in your dashboard, you will see three lines in the upper left-hand corner. From there select My Tools> My Degree Works. It will direct you to sign into your account using your E# and password. Once in, you will be on your degree audit screen, which lists all the courses necessary to fulfill degree requirements.

Up in the top left corner by the CUI logo you will see the grad plan tab. When you click on that and your grad plan under the list menu, it will you a birds eye view of what you will be taking and when. The notes (lower right corner icon of the class) in each course say the term you are taking the course (term 1 or term 2) for the given semester.

The MAJR600 (or GELE300 for IOP students) are elective placeholders for when you have to take and choose an elective course.

I would like to add or drop a course, what do I do?

To add or drop a course, please fill out the add/drop form with your student and course information. You can find course information on your Blackboard, MyRecords or the class schedules on the Registrar's website.

The add/drop form is a DocuSign form that is automatically sent to your advisor once you submit it. Your advisor will make any necessary comments and then forward it to the Registrar's Office for processing.

Once your add/drop form is completed, connect with your advisor to update your grad plan reflective of your current educational path.

What if I see multiple sections of my course on Canvas?

Not a problem! When courses open in Canvas you may see that you have two of the same course (different sections).

First, verify which one you are registered for within MyRecords. Then, email tiadvisor@cui.edu with your name and E#, along with both sections (CRN & course) and they will help get that updated for you.

Can you tell me the dates for the upcoming term? Graduation? A school break?

You can find semester/term dates, deadlines, and holiday schedules for the full academic year on the academic calendar. (**Find a helpful video on how to read the academic calendar above**)

The academic calendar is made by and housed with the Registrar's Office. Reminder that our academic years run from Summer to Spring. The calendar for the next academic year is typically published in January/February and will be uploaded on the Registrar website when it is ready.

Any questions about academic calendar or dates for the academic year can be addressed to the Registrar's Office at registrar@cui.edu

How do I find contact information for my professor?

If your course is opened in Canvas, contact information, along with the syllabus, will be within the "Meet your Professor" section of the course.

If your course is not already opened, email the advising team with your course (CRN & section) at tiadvisor@cui.edu and we will be happy to send you contact information for your professor.

How do I obtain a student ID card?

Even as an online student you can get an ID card. This helps with getting student discounts and of course just makes the whole student experience more tangible.

To begin the process for your ID card, you will head to our Campus Safety's website. From there you will fill out a Google form and submit a photo. From there the Campus Safety Office will process your request.  They will email you when your card is ready.

If you are coming to campus for a conference, you can pick it up in the Campus Safety Office (first floor in the Admin Building). If you won't be coming to campus anytime soon, just let your Advisor know you have an ID card ready and they will mail it to you.
